Athésia
Athésia (pronounced Ah Tease Ya) is a multilingual French Canadian Australian performer, broadcaster and storyteller whose work bridges music, film, radio and community engagement.
Originally from Montréal, Canada, and now based in Sydney, Australia, Athésia is of Haitian, French, Spanish and Taíno (Indigenous Caribbean) heritage. Fluent in English, French and Haitian Creole, with conversational Portuguese and Spanish, she brings a genuinely multicultural perspective to every creative collaboration.
As a singer-songwriter, actor, presenter, producer, emcee, voice artist and playlist curator, Athésia is passionate about creating meaningful experiences that connect people through culture, conversation and the arts. Her career has taken her from international stages to film sets and radio studios, including presenting and producing Jazz Around The World for ABC Jazz, celebrating the richness and diversity of jazz across the globe.
As an international performer, she has represented Canada during La Francophonie celebrations and cultural events in countries including Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina and China, creating stories that builds bridges between cultures.
Athésia made her screen debut in the award-winning short film Souvenir (2025), directed by Renée Marie Petropoulos. Since premiering at SXSW, the film has been officially selected for the Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), HollyShorts Film Festival and the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival, marking an exciting new chapter in her work as an actor.
